Profit will be up 200%, predicts Air China

Mainland flag carrier Air China expects its net profit to top US$2.2 billion, a growth of 200 percent over 2009.

The airline said in a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange that preliminary figures show the growth came as the Chinese economy continued to grow rapidly and the global economy recovered.

It made US$762 million in net profit in 2009. Profit in the third quarter of 2010 alone reached $780 million, up sixfold on a year earlier, Reuters reported.

Full 2010 results will be released later this quarter.
